Surveillance Portal

posted by on 24th, 2008

BR Ventures’ surveillance portal is an internet portal that amalgamates 2 different technologies. These two technologies are namely CCTV technologies and IT (information technology) network technologies like wide area networks (WAN), local area networks (LAN) or the internet (net).

Before the rise of these network technologies CCTV surveillance can only offer onsite recording with the use of a time-lapse recorder. The time-lapse recorder had limited storage recording only for a few hours and at 1 frame per second (fps). Current advance IP surveillance devices can record for months and expandable by adding additional hard disk drives. Recordings can also be done at 25 fps which is about the fastest our human eye can see.

Chronology of surveillance equipment:

  • Early 70’s

One camera -> VCR (Analogue)

  • Late 80’s

Many cameras -> multiplexer -> time-lapse recorder (Analogue)

  • Late 90’s

Many cameras -> multiplexer -> recording to built-in HDD (Digital)

  • Now

Network interfaced Digital Video Recorders (Digital)

IP enabled cameras

IP enabled camera transmitters

Network video recorders

BR Ventures’ surveillance portal provides:
